I'm a first time home buyer and going in to the experience, I was nervous.  I knew what I wanted and what my budget was.  I contacted the Leslie McDonnell Team since I'd received their postcards in the mail over the years.  They were very nice on the phone and sent Joan Meredith out to my home to meet me.  Joan was wonderful, she talked to me about what I was looking for and what I could expect during the process of looking for a home.  That was almost a year ago.

Our experience with the Leslie McDonnell Team was extremely positive. We had worked with Leslie before and were ready to work with her again. We were more than pleased to work with the different members of her team and did not expect Leslie to personally respond to all our questions when she has a capable staff to do that. Leslie came out to our house and suggested updates we could do to enhance the salability of the home. We did most of those in advance of putting the house on the market. Her stager, Andrea, came out and made some great suggestions as to paint colors and staging elements for the pictures. Jasmine was extremely responsive to our questions and did not seem put off if we asked something that might have seemed ignorant or irrelevant. We appreciated the free use of the moving truck and used it multiple times to take stuff to and from storage and Goodwill. We had expected to list our home for a higher price but Leslie, wisely, suggested a price that was more reality and would allow the house to sell quickly. Many homes in our area are on MLS for 100+ days before they sell. We listed on a Friday and had an offer late Saturday night. Though we had some difficult wrangling with the buyer's attorney, Leslie's staff and her recommended RE Lawyer helped reassure us and we got the house settled. Some nice, generous, thoughtful follow-ups with us also set the tone for a successful selling experience. It's no wonder her team sells as many homes as they do - they know the market and can help buyers get a sale.

When we decided to sell our condo and move to the suburbs, we really didn't have an idea of where to look. We have some friends that live in the Vernon Hills/Libertyville area. It was one of the suburbs I listed off to my husband as we prepared our search. Admittedly, I didn't study the suburbs all that well ahead of time since it was still so abstract to me. Our real estate agent Kent hooked us up with Leslie and Brittany. My husband and I looked through the MLS listings before deciding on properties to look at.

Since I was on maternity leave, my husband did the initial tours of potential new homes. After we narrowed down our search, both of us headed up to Vernon Hills to look at homes with Brittany. What's funny was that homes I thought for sure would be winners when I saw them on FaceTime didn't appeal to me in person. Instead, the houses I preferred were ones that revealed themselves in person better. After our big day of searching, we knew which house we wanted to buy, but had to wait on the movements of our condo. Eventually, we got the process started on a house we fell in love with, a cosmetic diamond in the rough big enough for our kids to have their own room, a playroom (no living room for us yet), near the Metra, and in a neat subdivision.

Once we got the process started, Leslie and Brittany's team worked hard to assemble our paperwork and get us into the new house. Luckily, the previous owners had left the house, so we even had a chance to visit it with my parents one weekend. One of the real estate agents took time out of her day, so we could tour it. She even kept an eye on our sleeping infant in the car for us. It was fantastic how they went out of their way in just that instance. They also have a stellar list of vendors too. Our new house was repainted within a day of buying it with help from one of their vendors. Leslie's team also sends out a list of utilities and need to know information ahead of the move to line up services quickly. It helped one day when I sat with my dirty chai at my desk calling all local utilities before moving. Leslie and her team did a wonderful job helping us buy our new home. Her team is truly fantastic. Brittany really got us and understood what we wanted out of our home needs and wants. Going through pros and cons with us of each house over lunch. We bought a semi move in ready house with potential. Brittany helped us look beyond the cosmetic flaws to see a neat house that can be transformed into our own. Seriously, they are the best.
